If i have not love

I wasn’t planning on doing a Valentine’s Day post because I don’t really celebrate the holiday as a single PCV living in South Africa. It’s also hard to be romantically minded in a country where 1 in 4 women has experienced violence at the hands of a partner and many girls are forced into sexual encounters before age 18. Still, I think that I can take something away from this holiday, so I’m going to try to do so.

If there’s one thing that immediately stands out to me about Valentines Day, it’s the concept of Love and how different cultures interpret it. The ancient Greeks came up with a categorization of various types of love, starting with Eros and adding on Philos and Agape, with Eros being the common form we know of today as “Romantic Love”. This love is focused primarily on physical and emotional intimacy with another person, be it a lover, wife/husband or girlfriend/boyfriend. The main purpose of this type of love is to meet the desires of another. Philos and Agape are different in that they emphasize brotherhood, kinship and relationship on both a civic and kinship level. It is this that I think needs resurgence here in South Africa. At the height of traditional Zulu culture, the concept of Ubuntu created a system in which love of ones community, family, culture, and tribe was non-negotiable. You either cared for other people or you ceased being recognized as a contributing member. Ubuntu meant that one cared for others because they believed their humanity did not stop and end with them but rather was binding them to others like strands of DNA creating a cell structure. To deny this practice was to essentially deny one’s own humanity-You are a person because of other people, Batho Pele, People First. Because of this structure, family systems were strong, the Zulu became prosperous and powerful, and the needs of each member of a village were taken care of. All this worked well until the arrival of the first European explorers in the 1600’s. As Musa Dube, a scholar on the system of Ubuntu in early Zulu culture states, Ubuntu has the potential to be revisited as a cornerstone of a just and peaceful African society:

“The concept of community, the Botho/Ubunthu/Buthu paradigm , should become the cornerstone of for propounding the African philosophy of justice and liberation by constantly revisiting what it means to be community and live in community, what violates community, and how to live in community in the new and hybrid twenty-first century contexts.”

Ubuntu eventually started to fade as a common cultural practice as Apartheid created fear and distrust in communities, and the focus shifted to survival and individual human rights. Ubuntu didn’t completely disappear, but it was squarely challenged. People who had once been loving and caring for others started to move inward. After the arrival of democracy, the dream of togetherness and unity lasted for a short honeymoon period before promises started to be broken and a nation became cynical and even more inwardly focused. For all the talk of Ubuntu, people eventually felt more like the other, alienated, unloved, and struggling to get the full equality promised to them in the Freedom Charter the new ANC Government had long ago drafted. An anxious populace started to wonder: What is the point in idolizing brotherly love and Ubuntu if I still live at a standard of living far below those who purport to be my brothers in this “Rainbow Society”? Slowly but surely, this new political era started to become more power-focused and individualistic despite tangible gains for South Africans. The people became jaded and their leaders marched on.

When I look at the country today, in 2011, with all the ups and downs over the past year, world cup unity, civil unrest, and bold promises of a better future laid out by President Zuma in his State Of The Nation speech, I start to wonder if South Africans have forgotten how to really love one another. Families are disintegrating, violence against women and children is on the rise, newspapers are filled with stories of corruption and abuse of public funds and the sense of collective community responsibility has all but faded from memory. Broken promises of care and action have left many people cynical and without much hope in change. This is ironic in that the 3 major religions here in South Africa-Christianity, Hinduism, and Islam- all have the unconditional tenet of love for one’s neighbor and for one’s community. In Christianity, you have the example of Paul’s famous passage on love:

If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Islam emphasizes love in acts of mercy and charity, or Zakat , while many of the Hindu community here in Greytown are generous donors to feeding schemes and social welfare organizations. To these 3 religions, love is not negotiable but rather as important to human life as living and breathing. Perhaps it’s time for

The Top 10 Hottest Animated Disney Women

So it's the day after the long Thanksgiving weekend and I'm sitting at my desk at work thinking "Oh man, I wish I was still on vacation" when I hear two of my coworkers discussing Disney women. Or, more specifically, discussing which Disney cartoon female is the hottest of them all:

Coworker 1: What about Jasmine? She's hot!
Coworker 2: Yeah, but her nose was kind of on the big side, no?
Coworker 1: Maybe. What about Ariel?
Coworker 2: Mmm...isn't she underage?
Coworker 1: The Hunchback chick!
Coworker 2: Esmeralda? Mmm...yeah, she does this saucy dance in the movie...
Coworker 1: Yeah. That was hot.

And that got me thinking, "you know, there are a lot of hot animated Disney babes! Surely someone has made a list of them!". But alas, there was no list to be found on the internets. So yours truly decided to spin some precious cycles trying to crunch the numbers and come up with a list of the finest Disney women of all-time. The only real requirements for consideration:
1. She must be a cartoon
2. She must be, mostly, human (no cats, mice, etc.)
3. She cannot be evil (only heroines)

So without further ado, here they are. The all-time hottest Disney babes:
#1: Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) - Is there any universe where she is NOT the hottest Disney babe? She shakes, she shimmies, she sings. Con: May possibly be TOO much woman for one guy to handle...
#2: Jane (Tarzan) - Ok, I'll admit I haven't seen a Disney movie since Aladdin. But Jane just screams hotness. Gotta love the tie and white gloves. Prim and proper. Cons: Um, can you say waistline?
#3: Pocahontas - Umm...you know this is an *official* Disney wallpaper? Maybe not historically accurate, but never before has buckskin looked so good. Obviously John Smith had more than colonizing on his mind.
#4: Jasmine - Beautiful locks, rock-hard abs and she's crazy rich? Cons: Maybe her nose is a little big...
#5: Cinderella - Classic beauty. She cooks, she cleans, she sews. Cons: The in-laws. I hear her mother is a b-tch.
#6: Mulan - Good skin, lustrous black hair AND the voice of Lea Salonga? I'm in heaven. Cons: If she gets mad at you, look out, I hear she's pretty good with a sword :-(
#7: Belle (Beauty & The Beast) - Beautiful and humble lass. Devoted to her family. Cons: Likes her men thick and wooly.
#8: Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) - She's a firecracker with a social consciences. And boy can she dance! Cons: Um...what's up with her and the goat?
#9: Snow White - The fairest of them all. Cons: Those pesky little dwarves she's cohabitating with.

Why Women LIve Longer Then Men

Why men love women

A few weeks ago I posted here Why women love men . Many readers asked me to write why we love women, but I don’t dare. Therefore, a reader (Julia) decided to do it for me. Of course, I don’t agree with everything, but this is a (relatively) free tribune. Let’s see what a feminine voice has to tell us:

We men love women because they still feel they are adolescents even after they grow old.

Because they smile every time they pass a child.

Because they walk down the street erect, always looking straight ahead, never turning round to say thanks or return the smile or compliment we make when they pass by.

Because they are bold in bed, not because they have a perverse nature but because they want to please us.

Because they don’t complain about the sacrifices they make for the sake of the ideal of beauty, facing up to waxers, Botox injections and menacing machines in gyms.

Because they prefer to eat salads.

Because they draw and paint their faces with the same concentration as Michelangelo working on the Sistine Chapel.

Because if they want to know something about their own appearance, they ask other women and don’t bother us with this type of question.

Because they have their own ways of solving problems, which we never understand, and that makes us mad.

Because they feel compassion, and say “I love you” precisely when they are beginning to love us less, to make up for what we can feel and notice.

Because sometimes they complain about things that we feel too, such as colds and rheumatic pains, and then we understand that they are people just like us.

Because while our armies invade other countries, they remain firm in their private and inexplicable war to put an end to all the cockroaches in the world.

Because they are capable of going to work dressed like men, in their delicate little suits, whereas no man would ever dare go to work wearing a skirt.

Because in the movies – and only in the movies – they never take a shower before making love with their partners.

Because they always manage to find a convincing defect when we say that another woman is pretty, making us feel insecure about our taste. (So true!!!)

Because they manage to fake orgasms with the same artistic quality as the most famous and talented of movie stars.

Because they just love exotic cocktails with different colors and delicate little ornaments, while we always have the same old whiskey.

Because they don’t waste hours thinking about how they are going to approach the pretty young man who has just come on the bus.

Because we came from them, will go back to them, and until that happens, live in orbit around the feminine body and soul.

Why Do Men Like Big Boobs?

We all stare. When a girl walks by with a big, bubbly chest, we can't help but stare. It's because we're guys. But WHY do we stare? What draws our eyes directly to a woman's chest? It's a combination of a few things. First of all, our love for the beautiful bosom dates back to prehistoric times when we all walked around grunting at one another. See what happened is, human beings began walking on two feet instead of four. This changed everything, including women's chests. In order to compensate for this change, the female body developed a way to attract the male eye, and through evolution, they eventually developed boobs. Literately just to get our attention! (and now that they have it we're "pigs")

The other reason we like full breasts is because it's a major sign of fertility in women. A woman's breasts naturally swell before and during their period. This is a sign that they are fertile. As men we need fertile women so that we can successfully have babies with them. So those are the two reasons. Doesn't seem like rocket science after you've read it but it makes sense. The only downfall is these days it is socially unacceptable to stare at a woman's chest. Will this change evolution to make women's breasts smaller? We'll never know, but enjoy 'em, they're there just for us!

Tall Amazaon Women

Tall amazon women are beautiful strong women.

They are, tall, strong, sometimes can be muscular. Many men love this type of women.

Some men dream about a woman who can protect him, especially if a man short and weak.

People want to look up to amazons and admire their power and beauty.

Amazons were strong warriors who fought in wars and Greeks have many myths about them. Women ruled everything and were even superior to men.

Some countries still have women who make all decisions in families.

Just because a woman is feminine sometimes she can be a boss in the family too. It depends on each family.

Powerful Amazons

Amazons are beautiful and powerful but men are weak and have to be told what to do. To this day people love and admire strong women. Many bodybuilders look like strong powerful women and they love to be women. If a woman has a strong body it she will find many admirers and followers.

I'm not as muscular as some women are, I'm more "skinny" but because of my tall height I had moments in my life when I felt more powerful or that I can do anything. Some women are more or less "Amazon type" but it would be great if each of us remembered those strong amazon women and knew we have that strength in each of us! I'm sure you met strong women before, I am sure you can remember at least a few examples where you standing next to a very strong woman.

Fantasy or Reality?

Very often it's just a fantasy to many people.

In our modern world women choose the role they want to have in this life. Many women are worriers because they have to work, raise children and take care of everyone.

Just because a woman doesn't look like an ancient worrier amazon, she is still a worrier in her heart and her life.

People tend to think that girls have it easier, but in reality we all have challenges...men and women!

We, as women have an amazon power even if we look feminine and sometimes not threatening and many men already know it. Amazon women are wonderful in looks or in heart.

Some strong amazon women prefer a weaker man by herself but other amazon women would love even stronger man than she is. It depends on a particular amazon woman. Just because she is strong, muscular and powerful doesn't guarantee you would know what she wants.

There are possibilities she would be attracted to only weaker men or only stronger men or both, just depends on a woman. Here are some interesting links for you if you are interested in amazons:

The true Powers of a woman * Home * About axinia * GREAT LINKS * The True Powers of a Woman Why men love women with long hair

Isn´t it amazing that despite the hairdressers trying to cut the women`s hair short and do their wild experiments with girls` manes, the long hair is still alive and actually flourishing? Why do the beauties smiling at us from the ad posters in every corner of the world all have long hair?

I think in a way it is the same story as with marriage: even if somebody claims the institution to be dying out, there are some – probably subconscious – reasons for it to live forever! Long hair is known to be the first decoration of a woman. There should be definetly some connection with the collective subconsiousness of human race.

In the case of the long hair making any woman look beautiful and indeed attractive the secret is well known but well forgotten.

In many cultures it is believed that hair contains the power of a woman. On the surface of it one may see the power of some physical attraction. But the reason is much deeper! Long hair manifests the true power of femininity, the quintessence of a woman. The shakti. Something any man is really looking for. Something a woman really gives to a man.

In one study published in the research journal Human Nature, researchers found that
women who had originally been rated by a test group as being less attractive were rated
far more highly when shown with a longer hairstyle. The experimenters concluded that
longer hairstyles increase women’s attractiveness in part because longer hair helps to
disguise less desirable features. Long hair tends to make the jaw line slimmer and less
prominent and draws attention away from undefined cheekbones. Also, as described by
many men, long hair also contributes to a more feminine and youthful appearance.

Recently I noticed a strong tendency among the western women to grow their hair long. May it somehow manifest the (unconscious) return to the roots? To the true femininity? The longing for understanding the deep and beautiful nature of womanhood? – At least this is what I want to believe…

Do tall women have big feet ? Do tall women have big feet ?

Generally, the taller a woman, the bigger her feet usually are. But, not all tall women have big feet. I have met women who were similar to my height but who had much smaller feet than I have. I was very surprised about such observations because I thought women of the same height would always have the same feet size.

Two women of the same height will have different shoe size...

If a woman is taller than 6 ft, she is more likely to have big feet. What big seems to you can be different when perceived by a taller woman.

For example, my feet shoe size is 11 and I don't think they are big at all. When someone finds out my shoe size they usually say "Wow! Your shoe size is 11! They don't look so big!" By the reaction that I receive, seems like people think that womens' shoe size 11 is big!

More about big feet. Tall women big feet

If you are a very short person, then you would think shoe size 11 is big. If you are a very tall woman or a man, then you would think shoe size 11 is actually small or average.

What do I think about my feet? I think my feet are just normal and perfect the way they are. I can't imagine having any other feet than I have now. They are very long and have very long toes.

I can even move my long toes if I want to.

always have enough space for them.

Big feet fantasy

Some men are attracted to women's feet. I never heard women to be attracted to man's feet or anyone's feet but many men find womens feet very attractive and even sexy. I don't completely understand what feet have to do with being sexy, but many men associate feet, shoes, pantyhose with sexiness.

If you notice someone really admires your feet or looks at your shoes often, he probably has feet fetish. Some men even have requirements to find a woman with perfect feet. What is perfect feet is different for everyone.

I'm sure my feet look perfect to someone. My husband never looked or admired my feet though, he isn't attracted to such kind of things. I'm sure it would be fun if he thought I have the cutest feet ever.

Having sexy feet maybe has something to do with wearing high heels. Many men love women in high heels. If you have shoes with open toes, it can be very attractive too.

Women love shoes and men love watching women in beautiful shoes too. There are many styles that would be great for each woman. If you are very tall, it would be harder to find shoes over size 12, so check out online websites that selling shoes and women's clothes.

Shopping for shoes

I have to admit that it would be a lot easier to shop for shoes if I had smaller feet. Many stores don't carry womens' shoe size 11 at all. I have less choice of shoes to buy but it's o'kay. I was always able to find nice shoes to wear, no matter how hard my search can be sometimes.

Also, I can't find shoes on sale very often either. Tall women don't have that much choice when we are shopping. If I was taller, finding shoes would be even harder, so I need to appreciate the fact that I can find shoes for my feet at all.

Do big feet smell more?

I don't think any feet smell more than others. I never tried to smell mine, as long as you wash your feet regularly you will be alright.

Also, I have long fingers and toes, long legs, long arms, etc. So, yes, tall women should have bigger feet too. Everything about me is very long and my feet are too.

My feet and legs are so long that they are hanging out off my bed sometimes. Maybe some day I will get a very long bed, but for right now, my long feet don't
